Somewhere along the way, families stopped knowing where their food came from. The ranch got replaced by a supply chain. The rancher got replaced by a barcode. At the same time, the small ranchers doing things the right way started disappearing, not because they were bad at their jobs, but because the system was built for scale, not stewardship.
We built OwnYourHerd because we believe those two problems are actually one problem. Families need to own what feeds them. Ranchers need to be backed by the families they serve. Today, that means one place to start: Vincent Farms in East Texas, where families can purchase and own real cattle, raised on real pasture, by a rancher they chose.
We personally vet every ranch against a published set of standards before it joins the network, and we do a real conversation with every potential owner before any commitment, not to pitch you, but to make sure ownership is actually the right fit for your family.
Built By People Who Grew Up Around This
OwnYourHerd is a small team, and that is deliberate. Every ranch that joins is one we have walked ourselves, and every family that buys cattle has talked to one of us first. We would rather stay small enough to keep doing both than grow into a company that vets ranches from a spreadsheet.
