What does it cost me to join?
Every program is different, so the exact structure depends on what we build together. In general, expect a percentage on livestock sales processed through OwnYourHerd and a percentage on management fees. We walk through everything on a call before you commit to anything.
What types of livestock can I offer?
Beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, poultry, and laying hens are all fair game. Some ranchers offer one species, some offer multiple. We design it around your operation.
Who owns the animals?
The customer does. They purchase a live animal that is deeded in their name. You raise it on your land under an agreed management arrangement.
Is this an investment product?
No. This is not an investment, a security, or a financial product of any kind. There are no promised returns and no guarantees about animal value. The customer is purchasing livestock, which is their property.
How do owners get updates on their animals?
Right now, we help you set up a simple communication system for owner updates via text, email, or a private page. We are actively building an owner portal where families can log in and see photos, updates, and program details, coming soon at no extra cost.
What if I am a small operation?
No problem. A 10-head program that raises $25,000 to $60,000 in capital is just as valid as a 100-head program. We design around your capacity.
Do I have to do any marketing myself?
No. We handle customer acquisition. You will want to provide photos and updates for your owners, but you do not need to run ads, post on social media, or build a sales funnel.
How long does it take to get started?
From application to your first customer payment, most ranchers are live within 30 to 60 days.
